This new Mr. Holmes trailer sees an elderly Sherlock Holmes on his latest and greatest case: mortality.
NewsThe last few years have afforded us quite a few Sherlock Holmes adventures through movies, books, video games, and TV shows. Mr. Holmes, starring Sir Ian McKellan, is yet another one of those tales, sure, but it's also unlike all that have come before it.
In a metafictional twist, we learn that the world's greatest detective is Dr. Watson's embellishment, a work of fiction that doesn't come close to the "real" man, who goes much deeper than the pipe-smoking caricature he is portrayed as in the stories.

Mr. Holmes stars Ian McKellan, Colin Starkey, Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, and Milo Parker. The film hits theaters on July 17.
