The full cast of and story for Captain America: Civil War has been revealed by Marvel, expect most of the Avengers and Ant-Man to show up.

Mike Cecchini

Captain America: Civil War officially began principal photography today at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. And so, with that in mind, Marvel has finally pulled the tarp off of most of the details about who will be returning for this one.

Here's a hint: just about everyone. There have been jokes made about Captain America: Civil Warserving as Avengers 2.5or as a bridge to Avengers: Infinity Warbefore, but clearly they weren't jokes. This is a central Marvel Universe movie.

Captain America: Civil War Story

We'll start with the official synopsis from Marvel:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Presumably, that villain is Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo, but we'll know more soon enough. We wrote in detail about what's in store for Captain America: Civil Warright here.

Captain America: Civil War Cast and New Characters

So that team of "New Avengers" we met at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron will go right into action in this one. In addition to the obvious returns of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., Captain America: Civil War will also feature Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany  as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Perhaps not surprising is that Paul Rudd will join the team as Ant-Man. The film will introduce Chadwick Boseman as potential future Avenger T’Challa/Black Panther.

Emily VanCamp is back as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, as well as Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, and William Hurt as Hulk foe General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Martin Freeman is here in a still undisclosed role.

Still no word no the presence of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but we'll probably get an announcement on that in the next few days, too.

The Rest

Captain America: Civil War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. It's produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo’s creative team also includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Elysium), production designer Owen Paterson (Godzilla, Matrix), and three time Oscar-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, HarryPotter and the Sorcerer’s Stone).

The production will shoot on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.
