You won't miss Joss Whedon on Avengers: Infinity War, because of the creative team behind The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War!
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are now even more important architects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The pair, who penned Captain America: The WinterSoldierand the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, are about to take on the writing duties of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films. That's Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, in case you're keeping count.
Joe and Anthony Russo (directors of the Captain America movies with Markus/McFeely involvement) are officially on board as directors. This is quite a reunion, and it's a sign of how important the Cap franchise has become to Marvel's movie plans. It feels appropriate.
“Chris and Steve have been an integral part of the Marvel family since the early days of Phase 1, and their work speaks for itself,” said Producer Kevin Feige in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to have them with us to help guide the Avengers through their biggest story yet.”
Badass Digest first reported Markus and McFeely's involvement back on April 9th.
The Russos just began production on the Markus and McFeely written Captain America: Civil War, and the whole team will head straight from that already Avengers-heavy film (Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Vision, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch) into Avengers: Infinity War. We expect Josh Brolin's Thanos will be the villain of these films, and the cast will also feature some new blood like Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. Expect more on this once everyone has seen Avengers: Age of Ultron.
