Ex Machina director Alex Garland is set to cast Natalie Portman in his next sci-fi movie, Annihilation.
NewsOne of the best films of the year thus far has arguably been Alex Garland's excellent directorial debut, the sci-fi movie Ex Machina. Garland made what looked like an effortless transition to directing, and it doesn't look like it's going to be too long before we see his next film.
It's been known for a while that he's to direct a take on Jeff VanderMeer's novel, Annihilation, for Paramount Pictures. The book tells the story of a biologist who "signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don't apply."
The film is expected to start shooting early in 2016, and Variety is now reporting that Natalie Portman is in talks to take on the lead role in the movie. And once she's in place, names being considered to take on the role of her co-star in the film include Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton.
We'll have more news on Annihilation as we hear it.
