Veep showrunner Armadno Iannuci turns his satirical eye on Soviet Russia
NewsArmando Iannucci, who created Veep out of his British political satire The Thick Of It, will write and direct the political satire feature film The Death of Stalin, based on Fabien Nury’s French graphic novel A Morte De Stalin.
Iannuci recently walked away from his job as the showrunner on HBO’s Veepafter four seasons. His last film project was 2009's In the Loop, which was based on the BBC series The Thick of Itand starred Peter Capaldi and James Gandolfini..
The Death of Stalin tells the chaotic days that followed the death of Josef Stalin, the head of the Soviet Union who died in March 1953.
The Death of Stalinwill be produced by Nicolas Duval, Laurent Zeitoun and Yann Zenou, who produced Heartbreaker and The Intouchables.
Shooting on The Death of Stalinis slated to begin in 2016.
