The next installment of Den of Geek Presents takes aim at some of the lesser known moments in Marvel movie and TV history.
NewsFace front, true believers. Marvel may be a box-office juggernaut and a TV titan, cranking out success story after success story...but that wasn't always the case. Over the last fifty years, Marvel characters have been the subject of some downright weird bits of TV and moviemaking. So, since you probably need something to get you through that weird period between the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron in May and the hot stuff that comes with San Diego Comic-Con in July, we're getting the gang together in June to give you a Marvel fix.
That isn't to say that it's all bad...we have a soft spot for things like the Roger Corman Fantastic Four movie or the Captain America TV movies starring Reb Brown, and especially the live-action Spider-Man TV series. But yeah, let's just say that they aren't exactly up to Joss Whedon's standards.
With that in mind, we're throwing another party. Den of Geek Presents...Marvel Oddities is coming to Brooklyn on Saturday, June 27th. Marvel Odditieswill take place at one of our favorite NYC hangouts, Videology, and the show kicks off at 9 pm.
We'll announce more details as the event gets closer, but right now, look for an assortment of clips, supercuts, and music videos spanning the Marvel Universe from the Grantray-Lawrence animated series of the '60s (bonus points if you know all the words to all the theme tunes), live-action versions of Thor and Daredevil from the '80s, and "highlights" from some other Marvel movies that you may or may not have known ever happened. We'll just show the good parts. We promise.
Oh, and there will be prizes. Our good friends at TVStoreOnline.Com will provide t-shirts, costumes, and other essential pieces of superhero gear to attendees. Some stuff you might get just for RSVPing. Other stuff, well...you might have to match wits with us to earn your cape and cowl.
Den of Geek Presents...Marvel Oddities goes down on Saturday, June 27th at 9 pm. The place you want to be is Videology at 308 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. They have a handy website with a menu, directions, and a schedule of other wonderful parties they throw.
