Ryan Reynolds reveals that the Deadpool team is speaking with Hugh Jackman about a Wolverine cameo in next year's film.
NewsOf all the superhero movies coming out in 2016, the one we might be the most jazzed for is also the picture most flying under the radar. With its February release date and its gleefully promised R-rating, Deadpool is not necessarily attracting the kind of hundred-million dollar marketing campaign and toyetic filmmaking that catches most audiences’ immediate attention. And judging by how Reynolds revealed the film’s R-rating on April Fools (as well as the fact that Wade Wilson is apparently a Team Zack kind of Saved By the Bell fan), this can only be a good thing.
In that same candor, Reynolds now talks about getting Hugh Jackman to appear in Deadpool for a cameo. As everyone likely already knows, the perennial face of the X-Men Cinematic Universe for 15 years-going has announced that 2017’s unofficially titled Wolverine 3 will be his last dance with the claws. However, just because it’s his final go in the sideburns, it does not mean that he can’t cameo in films that come out before Wolverine 3…like X-Men: Apocalypse or also now Deadpool.
While chatting with news.com.au, Reynolds revealed that they’re still planning on having Jackman’s Old Man Logan make an appearance in Deadpool if Jackman’s schedule is permitting.
“God, I hope so; that would be really nice,” Reynolds said about the possibility of seeing his “old mate” Jackman in the film. “I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna’ be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.”
It should be noted that Reynolds first got to play Deadpool (if that’s what you want to call him) in Jackman’s inaugural Wolverine spin-off picture, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). But the less said about that movie the better.
Whatever the case may be, we’re sure that if Jackman’s cameo in X-Men: First Class (2011) is anything to go by, it will be quite memorable. But we won’t know for sure until Deadpool opens on February 12, 2016.
