News

The anticipation among families and animation enthusiasts is so strong for Inside Out, Pixar’s first feature film in nearly two years, that the long delayed The Good Dinosaur has been left a little bit out in the cold. But lest you forget, there is indeed a second Pixar film coming out this year. And now we have our first tease of an adventure that combines a prehistoric “what if” scenario with everyone’s favorite fantasy: humans and dinosaurs joining forces.

The Good Dinosaur answers the question of what might have happened if the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs never made contact with Earth, allowing evolution to go in a startlingly drastic and different direction. In that vein, Pixar’s film follows an Apatosaurus named Arlo and his unlikely human friend as they traverse a harsh landscape, learning to confront their greatest fears together.

The Good Dinosaur features the voices of Lucas Neff, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, and Neil Patrick Harris.

The film was originally supposed to come out on May 30, 2014, but was pushed back last September following the removal of Bob Peterson as director and Denise Ream as producer from the project. Spun as simply being too close to the film to “crack” the its third act, Peterson’s exit has made way for John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Peter Sohn to step in and temporarily work on different sections of the film. Given Pixar’s overall track record, we are more than happy to stay optimistic about what they can do with extra time to iron out the details.

The Good Dinosaur enters movie theaters in time for Thanksgiving on November 25, 2015.
