One of the Daredevil season 2 showrunners is bringing the live-action Akira movie back to life.

The long-struggling live-action Akiramovie is back on at Warner Bros., with some new talent involved. Marco J. Ramirez, currently working as showrunner of Daredevil season two is working on a new screenplay for Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way productions. Last we heard of this, Jaume Collet-Serra was directing, and Warner Bros. was eyeing a suspiciously white cast including Garrett Hedlund and Helena Bonham-Carter.
Thankfully, that stalled.
So, now that this project is alive again, let's hope that everyone involved has the good sense to not whitewash the cast. Extremely high on the list of priorities should be casting Asian actors in the lead roles. Somewhat further down the list should be making sure that the movie will appropriately freak you the hell out whether or not you've consumed any contraband psychedelics.
