The Crow remake continues to run into trouble, as Jack Huston will no longer play the lead.

UPDATED!

The Crowremake just can't seem to get off the ground. They've gone through a laundry list of potential stars, with Jack Huston finally signing on the dotted line as the undead avenger.

Well, he did, but the old standby of "scheduling issues" has forced him off the project. Huston is set to star in Ben-Hur, which might be pretty demanding from a scheduling standpoint.

“Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on The Crow,” said director Corin Hardy in a statement (via Variety). “‘The Crow’ is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks.”

Update: 3/16/15

Well, it looks like this one has been confirmed. Dread Centralcaught up with The Crow creator James O'Barr who confirmed Jack Huston has been cast as the lead in the remake. "Jack Huston has definitely been cast," he told them. He is "really happy with that choice." Expect The Crow remake to go into production soon.

O'Barr has also now confirmed Jessica Brown Findlay will be playing the female lead in The Crow reboot. Findlay, who is best known for her work on DowntonAbbey, is in a role that has yet to be announced, but it wouldn't be a bad guess to think she may be the Crow's murdered girlfriend seen in flashbacks.

Original Story: 2/27/15

The planned reboot of The Crow movies hasn't quite gone to plan so far. In fact, that'd be something of an understatement. The lead role in the film has been linked to the likes of Bradley Cooper and Tom Hiddleston thus far, and last year, Luke Evans was attached to star. Evans, however, told us that "I can't wait much longer" at the end of last year, and eventually he too dropped out of the project.

Still on board to direct is Corin Hardy, and now a new face has been linked with the lead role. That'd be Jack Huston (of Boardwalk Empire fame), who's currently shooting the new take on Ben Hur. He's got the lead role in that one as well.

Talks between Relativity Studios and Huston are said to be at an "early stage", but presumably there's a strong desire now just to get the new The Crow made. We'll keep you posted...

Deadline.
