Mark Ruffalo on Hulk in Captain America: Civil War - UPDATED!

What's shaping up to effectively be the third Avengersmovie, Captain America: Civil War is now well into production. Chris Evans headlines a cast that already includes Robert Downey Jr, Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Martin Freeman, Daniel Bruhl, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle and Elizabeth Olsen (breathes out). But might there be room for Mark Ruffalo to reappear as Hulk?

Well, possibly.

The rumor that Hulk will turn up in the film has been swirling for a little while now, and The Daily Beast has asked actor Mark Ruffalo about it. At first, his comments are not that revealing. "I don't know," he told the site. "I heard a rumor about that the other day."

He added that "I haven't seen a script, nobody's told me and I don't have dates. But I can only hope so," when quizzed about his involvement.

Yet then he threw in that "I was talking to Robert Downey the other day and he said 'Ruffalo, I heard you're coming out here', and I said 'okay, I'll be there'."

QUICK UPDATE! Our own Don Kaye caught up with Mr. Ruffalo at a roundtable for upcoming film Infinitely Polar Bear, and he offered a little more when asked about Downey's "invitation" to the set:

"I don't know! I haven't gotten a schedule. He told me, (but) I haven't heard it from anybody in production for the Avenger movie -- or Civil War. So I have no idea. If Robert told me, then it's probably true. It hasn't trickled its way down to me."

We wait and see. Given who else will be in the film, we'd be surprised if there wasn't room for Bruce Banner somewhere (although Samuel L. Jackson is set, so far, to sit Captain America3 out).

Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6th, 2016. Joe and Anthony Russo are directing.
