Transcendence trailer breaks down the science of artificial intelligence.
Warner Bros is going Mr. Science on us in the new featurette for Transcendence. The trailer starts by telling us “A new kind of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move on to newer levels.” Great. Not only do we have to think during this movie, we have to think in new ways. Does that mean you have to drop a tab of acid to enjoy Transcendence? No, just hook yourself up to your laptop.
Warner Bros. released an explanatory featurette for Director Wally Pfister's debut sci fi thriller, Transcendence. Cast and crew and a couple of guys in lab coats sit us down and tell us what artificial intelligence is all about.
In Transcendence, Johnny Depp plays Dr. Will Caster, the world’s most renowned Artificial Intelligence expert. He wants to make a “sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions.” He’s done experiments which have gotten him in trouble and anti-tech extremists want him to stop. Of course, when they try to stop him they give him the missing ingredient that he needed all along.
Rebecca Hall plays Caster’s wife Evelyn. Paul Bettany plays Caster’s best friend Max Waters. They are both researchers. Transcendance also stars Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., Morgan Freeman. The screenplay was written by Jack Paglen.
Transcendence opens in theaters and IMAX on April 18, 2014.
