The first trailer for Zach Braff's second directorial effort, Wish I Was Here, has hit the Internet like an indie beacon.

Has it really been 10 years since Garden State? It appears so, as Zach Braff is releasing his second directorial effort a full decade since that iconic indie. And the new trailer should intrigue any who might have been a fan of his work.

In Braff’s new film, he plays Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, husband, and father who at 35 finds himself at a crossroads with tragedy seeming to lurk off the frame’s corner. In the new trailer, we get our first glimpse of what that exactly might be.

Famously made possible by Braff launching a Kickstarter campaign almost exactly one year ago, the film raised $2 million in three days and ended with over $3.1 million of its budget covered by fans, anxious to see a film that made its debut at Sundance Film Festival. And it certainly has earned some pedigree since that kick start with a cast that includes, Mandy Patinkin, Kate Hudson, Josh Gad, Joey King, Ashley Greene, Jim Parsons, and Donald Faison.

Wish I Was Here opens in select cities on July 18, 2014 before platforming to wide release by August 1.
