Joaquin Phoenix has signed onto Woody Allen's next movie that's aiming for a 2015 release.
Fresh off his success in Her, Joaquin Phoenix has lined up his next movie as the, of course, untitled 2015 project from filmmaker Woody Allen. The film begins production in July.
Phoenix’s deal comes at a time when the director’s films are back in the mainstream consciousness with a series of praise, accolades, and box office success. The 2011 romantic comedy Midnight in Paris was Allen’s most financially lucrative movie to date, earning $151 million worldwide, and gaining him another Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. And last year’s Blue Jasmine netted star Cate Blanchett her second Oscar, this time for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Currently, Allen is getting ready to unveil his newest film at Cannes, Magic in the Moonlight, which stars Emma Stone and Colin Firth in a story about high class mingling with the Jazz Age in 1920s Southern France.
This will be Phoenix’s first collaboration with Allen.
