One of the earliest Tarzan supporting characters will be brought to life by Djimon Hounsou in the upcoming film.
Djimon Hounsou has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' new Tarzanmovie. Hounsou will play Chief Mbonga, a character who first appeared in the very first Tarzan story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan of the Apes. Mr. Hounsou has a busy on-screen summer ahead of him as the voice of a villain in How to Train Your Dragon 2 and as Korath the Pursuer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
Rather than an origin story, the new Tarzanfilm appears to be a tale about an older Tarzan's return to the jungle after he has resumed his "normal" life in London. Tarzanis directed by David Yates and stars Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan, Margot Robbie as Jane, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christoph Waltz. It opens on July 1st, 2016.
