Frank Darabont and Gavin O'Connor are amongst the potential directors of Snow White And The Huntsman 2...
UPDATED: Frank Darabont is now in talks to direct Snow White and the The Huntsman 2. It looks like Universal is going with The Huntsman spin-off idea that had once been floated.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Well, this one's a film that disappeared off the radar for a while. The sequel to Snow White And The Huntsman looked likely off the back of the original film doing reasonable box office, but things have been quiet surrounding the project for some time now. It's long been known that original director Rupert Sanders wouldn't be back for it, but both Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart are set to return.
But who will be directing? Well, we're glad you asked.
The apparently shortlist for Snow White And The Huntsman 2 is actually quite an interesting one. Frank Darabont is on it for a start, and if he took the job on it'd a) be a surprise and b) be his first feature since 2007's The Mist.
Elsewhere? Gavin O'Connor - best known for Warrior- is a candidate, as is Andy Muschietti. Muschietti recently walked away from Universal's reboot of The Mummy, having previously directed Mama.
There's no target release date that we know of yet, but Universal wouldn't be able to get Snow White And The Huntsman 2 into cinemas until 2016 at the earliest. More on this one as we get it...

like we really need this?
In regard to the 1st comment; yeah, we need this. I put up with all the AvengingCaptainSpiderIronXMen crap - all of which I go see but over half of which SUCKS - so I'm well within my rights as a comic fan to want more SWATH as an antidote to the neverending near emotionless and plot-less sausage fest.
Can't decide which of the shortlisted directors would be best... Darabont would be cool though.
