Can we get a Galaxy Quest 2? Probably not. But there's a script written, and the cast are keen...

It's now 15 years since the release of the quite wonderful Galaxy Quest, the film that brought together Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and Justin Long. Voted at one stage one of the best Star Trekmovies by Star Trek fans, Galaxy Quest continues to enjoy a deserved following. And MTV has put together a really interesting look back at the film, bringing together the people involved.

There are one or two interesting nuggets to be found in it too. We didn't know that Harold Ramis was originally set to direct the film for instance, with Alec Baldwin his preferred lead (Kevin Kline and Steve Martin were also approached). Ramis would duck out in the end, and admit that he called it incorrectly. Dean Parisot came in to direct.

MTV's piece also highlights that there were plans for a sequel. In fact, Tim Allen says at one stage that "there's a sequel somewhere. It's written, but I haven't really gotten a straight answer about it, but Hollywood is a very peculiar place. It is none of my business".

Screenwriter Robert Gordon adds that "I definitely have ideas for a sequel", Sigourney Weaver, Allen, Sam Rockwell and Justin Long all confirm they'd be interested too.

So: if someone important in Hollywood has that script, can they dig it out and move their finger towards the green light button please? It'd be much appreciated.

Here's the terrific MTV piece.
