The new trailer for Birdman of The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is brilliant. Watch it here.
Birdmanis a film with a basic concept that seems aimed so squarely at the heads of Den of Geekreaders that we almost have to wonder if they're playing with us. Michael Keaton plays an actor who once portrayed a famous comic book character in a successful franchise. Right.
Clearly, though, there's much more to Alejandro Iñárritu's Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorancethan that. Not the least of which being a stellar cast that includes Edward Norton and Emma Stone. So, the clever concept aside, this looks like a pretty fascinating movie.
Yeah...this has everything. Michael Keaton as himself and his internal "Birdman voice." Some blockbuster-style special effects. Oh, and the bit where the one guy takes "Birdman 4" out of context and gets really excited about it? Yes, welcome to the perils of our job.
Here's the official synopsis:

In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.

I love this. So exciting to see Keaton heading up a film again, too.
lame
It's a good thing Emma Stone is in it. We'll have a reason to watch it.
My only concern is that this has weird Indie movie written all over it.
Maybe it's ed Norton being in it but this reminds me a bit of death to smoochie, that's not a bad thing.
