It may not be a surprise, but it is now confirmed: Batman's hitting his mid-40s for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice...
Michael Uslan's name has appeared on the credits of every Batman movie since 1989's Batman, as executive producer. Granted, he's been more hands on with some films than others, but he retains an involvement, even through to 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
Chatting to app.com, Uslan has been nattering about the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, and the ensuring controversy, Uslan noted that "we’ve been through this I don’t know how many times already. Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this."
Cited examples include Robert Downey Jr. and Heath Ledger.
"So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he’s going to be extraordinary."
Given Ben Affleck's age, it was hardly a secret that the plan was for an older Batman this time around, but Uslan is the first to pinpoint just how old the Caped Crusader will be. And if Affleck keeps the cape and cowl for a few films, we may just get to explore a superhero hitting his 50s too. Hope so, anyway.
