Morgan Freeman has been cast as a civil rights lawyer in Seth MacFarlane's anticipated Ted 2.
When Ted kicked audiences in the gut with laughter in 2012, nobody expected that it would go on to be a global phenomenon. But after becoming the highest earning R-rated comedy of all time with $549 million, one good chuckle deserves another. And indeed, Seth MacFarlane found for Ted 2 the one key ingredient that nearly every successful franchise needs these days: Morgan Freeman.
Variety reports that Mr. Freeman has been set to play a beloved civil rights lawyer that will come to Ted’s (MacFarlane) aid when Ted needs some legal issues resolved. Since MacFarlane is also back for directing and scripting duties for Ted 2 as well, why do I expect something vaguely politically correct in the direction of certain political figures of the last several decades?
Ted 2 features Mark Wahlberg returning to the role of Ted’s “slacker” best friend, as well as much of the supporting cast, albeit Mila Kunis has been replaced with Amanda Seyfried.
Ted 2, which was also scripted by returning Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. The picture is due out June 26, 2015.
