The story of the Lambert family may be done, but those nefarious spirits from astral projection live on, as seen in the new creepy poster from Insidious: Chapter 3. Undoubtedly, a chunk of dialogue from Leigh Whannell’s ominous prose (he wrote and co-starred in the last two, and is directing this installment), the poster is all about scaring the reader into looking over their shoulder…or thinking about their empty home. Assuming, of course, that it is empty.
Insidious: Chapter 3 picks up after the last film with Specs (Whannell), Tucker (Angus Sampson), and the spectral Elise (Lin Shaye) helping a new family, that includes Dermot Mulroney, dealing with a different type of haunting. Because, yes, the wheezing demon is back. And it is haunting a young girl and kin with motives that predates the Lamberts’ terror.
Focus Features, which is distributing this Blumhouse Productions film, intends to have Insidious: Chapter 3 in theaters on May 29, 2015.
We talked with Leigh Whannell at length about what Insidious 3 could be about whenwe interviewed him last year, and his answers did intrigue us. He had his eye on making a third movie, and it is now coming to fruition after the last film grossed $161 million worldwide. His long-time creative partner who directed the first two entries, The Conjuring’s James Wan, meanwhile has moved on to the Fast and Furious franchise and is directing Fast & Furious 7 for an April 2015 release.
