We have a trailer for the latest found-footage horror film The Houses October Built
Attending haunted houses during the Halloween season is something like an American tradition, and in recent years, studios releasing faux-found footage horror films during the same time period has become one as well. Well, how about mixing the two?
That’s exactly what The Houses October Built, executive produced by the folks who brought you Insidious, and the film that really popularized the genre, Paranormal Activity, aim to do. The Houses follows five teens as they trek across America searching for the scariest, most extreme haunted house. Traveling around in an RV, they visit many passible, yet ultimately disappointing scare fests before a good haunting comes directly to them.
Directed by Bobby Roe, a former All-American UCLA Baseball pitcher who also is a featured actor in the film, the movie uses a low-fi, handheld camera to tell the terrifying story in the somewhat tired found-footage tradition. The movie has been sitting around for a bit, taking home the top prize of the “Shocker Award” at the 2011 Shockfest Film Festival hosted by FEARnet.
We have the newly released trailer for The Houses October Built below. The film will be released in select theaters, VOD, and iTunes on October 10.
