Guy Ritchie has found his Guinevere for Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, and it's French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey.
Having already left his stamp squarely on the Sherlock Holmes brand, Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros. have been eyeing another iconic character of British literature for an upcoming pop culture reboot. And now Ritchie’s King Arthur has met his new Guinevere. Enchanted moment, indeed.
Astrid Berges-Frisbey has been cast as Guinevere in Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. And for anyone who has met the talented actress, it would appear to be a smart choice.
Best known to American audiences for playing a siren-singing mermaid in 2011’s otherwise lukewarm Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Berges-Frisbey is a French actress who left strong impressions in Extase and Angels of Sex. She also most recently starred in the metaphysical English-language film I Origins alongside Michael Pitt, which you can read our review for right here.
Berges-Frisbey joins the previously cast Charlie Hunnam of Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim fame. He was cast last month as Ritchie’s Arthur.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is Ritchie’s ninth film and his second after next year’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Ritchie rose to prominence in the 1990s for his slick ultra-violent, ultra-edited thrillers Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is set to gather in theaters on July 22, 2016.
