J.J. Abrams is hoping that the Star Wars rumors - "many of which are true" - won't spoil the movie for people...
NewsIt's under nine months now until we get to see J.J. Abrams' eagerly-awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is now deep into post-production. The movie has a December 18th 2015 release date, and in a new interview with News.com.au, Abrams said that "we're still cutting it, but I could not be more excited."
He gave the interview primarily to promote the film Infinitely Polar Bear, which stars Zoe Saldana and Mark Ruffalo. Ruffalo plays a bi-polar father in the movie, which is written and directed by Maya Forbes. We don't have a UK release date for the film yet, but will keep you posted.
Back to Star Wars, then, and Abrams admitted in the interview that "the level of scrutiny is pretty much unprecedented for me." And this is the man who rebooted Star Trek on the big screen.
"My dream is that, despite so many rumors - many of which are true, many of which are untrue - when people see the movie, they see something that hasn't been completely ruined for them by having read spoilers they might not have wanted to read."
We await a second, full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and with Abrams' words in mind, it'll be interesting to see just how much he's willing to give away. Don't expect the Star Wars rumors to slow down, though. That ain't how the modern world works...
