The chances of G.I. Joe 3 making a 2016 release seem slim, as Paramount hires a writer to start over on the project.
NewsThe current plan with G.I. Joe 3 is for Paramount to have the film in cinemas at some point in 2016, but to date, that's not been confirmed. Certainly the studio is going to need to get a crack on to meet such a deadline, as production does not seem close to starting. Furthermore, the studio has hired a new writer to take a crack at the script.
The writer concerned is Section 6's Aaron Berg, and he's basically going back to square one now. The earlier drafts of the G.I. Joe 3 screenplay, that had been written by Evan Daugherty and Jonathan Lemkin, are seemingly not being used.
It's been known for a while that D J Caruso would be taking over the director's chair for the new movie, but all signs to us now point at a 2017 rather than 2016 release, unless Berg is further down the road with his screenplay than is thought.
Dwayne Johnson is expected to return for the next movie, but not too much more is known beyond that.
More on G.I. Joe 3 as we hear it.
