One of the expanded Transformers universe films is called Transformers One. Here's what we know...
NewsThis might be a Transformers movie worth checking out. Tired of watching these otherwise cool giant robots noisily destroy earthbound cities and interact with irritating humans? Transformers One might be the answer to your prayers.
Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (who did some rewrites on Marvel's Ant-Man) are now part of the Transformers "writer's room" (the one that includes The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman) at Paramount, and Transformers One (which may be a working title) is an origin story for the Autobots and Decepticons, one that will be set entirely on Cybertron.
That's a relief, isn't it?
There's a chance this one could also end up as an animated film, which would also make sense given the amount of CGI that will obviously be involved. Barrer and Ferrari may also co-write a more traditional live-action Transformers movie, but that's a few steps ahead.
We'll keep an ear out for more.
